Stoneware Bowl
Wilda Swift
Wilda says "as a potter and cook I depend upon the clay to send important messages to other cooks about good food and welcome, comfort, and companionship."
She wants her pots to be used, so they are made to be tough, strong, and functional. Her stoneware pottery has an every-day sturdiness that allows the pieces to be used in the oven, dishwasher, and microwave.
She formulates her own glazes and so can assure that the glazed surfaces are completely safe for use with all foods.
The high-fired clay body and reduction atmosphere in the kiln give subtle glazes and "magic" to the colors created by the combination of clay, glazes, and flame.
Wilda wants most to share a taste of the joy and pleasure she receives from working with the clay.
