April Christenson

My medium of choice is colored pencils and I love to do landscapes. Although I have been branching out into plant forms as well. I like to observe the play of light on everything from pebbles to giant rock cliffs. I look for strong shadows when taking reference slides to work from.

Because I prefer to do multiple layers to get the correct color effects, the colored pencil paintings take me many hours to complete. Sometimes I might use as many as eight layers of colored pencil. I work on Rising Museum board which is a cross between a good drawing paper and cold press illustration board. The last step is spraying a light fixative on everything.

In addition to originals, I am offering high quality giclee prints of my original art. This provides an affordable piece of "original " art.
